I expanded my haiku, Broken Hearts Still Beat I originally wrote in 2019, to a full poem and turned it into the lyrics for a new song I created today through SUMO. The lyrics are mine, and the music and voice created by SUMO with my detailed instructions/prompts. I am very pleased with the results, and if interested you can hear it free of charge at the link after the poem. You can see how I structured the lyrics alongside the song as at the link below.
Broken hearts still beat
In the lengthening shadows
Of past once-bright suns.
Ecstasy once sweet,
Sours each passing day,
Like fine, uncorked wine.
Once we both could feast,
On leftover mac and cheese,
With sides of warm smiles.
You clipped coupons daily,
To stretch my thin paycheck,
And pay all our bills.
And yet we felt wealthy,
With our love a treasure,
That no one could steal.
Now we can have prime rib,
Caviar, champagne daily,
But no feast in them.
I’d give my life gladly,
For just one month with you now,
As we were back then.
Long for mac and cheese,
Shared with you when you love me,
As you did back then.
Grievances forgotten,
Walking hand in hand again,
In rain, snow and bright sun.
Hope reigns eternal
And
Broken hearts still beat
In the lengthening shadows
Of past once-bright suns.
