I Wonder

I wonder what you think

When you say those things.

The things you say

That break me

And the things you say that lift me up.

When you break me down,

Do you even care?

Does it come to your mind

That this will live in me forever?

That maybe you shouldn’t say it?

Or do you not think,

And just say?

When you say things that brighten my day,

Do you plan them out?

Because when you say

The things that make me happy,

It reminds me of how bad

You really can be

Which side is which?

The one where you break me down,

Or the one that helps me stay?

I guess I’ll never know,

But I can wonder.

Kind of a ****** poem I did after my friend forced me to listen to her favorite song by Olivia Rodrigo which is “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back” which inspired this.
