The hard way

by zackripley

I'm not trying to be a hero. I just want to be a friend. Cause they're what stopped the dark thoughts From turning off all the lights inside my head. Somewhere along the way, I thought I would be better off alone. But as your friend, let me tell you something I learned the hard way: you can still get hurt even if you turn your heart to stone. Letting people in can be scary. But it just might save your life some day. And if you're a friend yourself, congratulations. They might not ever say it, but you may be a hero in someone's eyes.
