Cactus

by @icouldimagine

Desert dunes glide like waves in blistering winds. Around its heart, a strong hand is wrapped As it aids it to beat by squeezing and releasing. Accompanying its drums, the dust dances on the hymns And want to sing the same notes- I mustn't let them. These notes are a mirage of something grotesque, A shadow who's presence I've used to verify that I exist. Terrifying, yet familiar, awful, but it's always been close. "You ignore!" "So do you." "You judge!" "Haven't you?" Only a cactus can flourish in these circumstances. So if you decide to reach, Don't blame its spikes for the drawn out blood.
