How to Let Go?

You taught me a million things—

How to share a meal,

What it means to wait,

To cry and be heard,

To love and to be loved—

But letting go, wasn't one of them.

Always swearing to keep it firm

whilst heaven and hell fall apart,

but now you won't even look my way.

O my dear, How cold your heart?

I sought the sparks, not the burns,

but found the scars, broken and numb.

For I thought we were partners, equal and fair,

but I ended up taking the fall, all alone.

You were the closest I have ever been to heaven,

and your presence radiated like the Sun.

You said, "Just shut the door",

But I lack the strength after all.

I can't turn the key and walk away—

You never taught me how to let go.
