You blaze-
a sun burning through every quiet corner,
every shadow you touch ignites.
I watch your fire,
feel it warm my edges,
but even in its warmth,
I burn.
You do not see how you scorch,
how your light leaves nothing but ash
where once there was breathing,
where once hearts leaned close.
I cling,
I orbit,
drawn to your brilliance
and scorched by your leaving.
I am the moon-
quiet,
pale,
retreating,
hiding my face from a world
that never knew how to wait.
I hold my own silver in the dark,
till all who could have followed
slip past me like tides
that will not pause.
We are a sky divided-
one that consumes,
one that withdraws.
And though I ache for your light,
and though you hunger for everything,
we pass each other
like day into night,
leaving only ash and silence behind.
