It's with grave concern that I welcome you,
Dearest beloved to another year,
Knowing, fully, that I edge even closer,
To the place where no one is ever ready to go;
But hey! Here we are!
And live I must,
Regardless,
Even, though...!
It is the other side of the forties for me,
Much passed the time when life begins,
In fact, already six moons in,
And looking o'er the horizon to the midlife;
My little ones have rendered the birthday song,
Alongside their mother coordinating,
If for nothing, at least for them,
The hustle must continue.
