A casual glance into on-coming traffic
two eyes meet..
We met for dinner,
made love and fell head over heels.
Your eyes, that smile
I knew we were destined to be one.
We got married,
settled down,
had two kids.
One boy, one girl.
Alexander and Mara.
They grew up before our eyes.
We retired to Florida,
learned to play shuffleboard
for no reason at all.
You died in my arms one night,
while a kissed your forehead
and told you that I will
always love you,
just like your song.
Then it was over.
A lifetime spent, in a brief moment.
Two cars passing..
one coming,
one going.
I stopped at a red light...
You were gone.
