i ache for a son i had in a dream i passed out in pain, came to with his newborn skin gleaming in my arms, my body felt slain i gave him to my friends let him have uncles and aunties who held him and held him close to them he was mine for months in one night he smiled and cried he was mine i woke up the next morning my body aches and i rise to give him a feeding to find no crib, no him, my life how it slept i still feel his crying, his skin gleaming i still ache for a son i had in a dream

Notes

based off of a dream i had at 15 where an assault resulted in a child, lived about a year of me and the child’s life before waking up the next morning

sometimes i still sleep with my arms wrapped around my stomach
