I remember
October's beckoning call
How he came whistling humid air,
singing with the voice of cold
I remember
Full moon glowing white over navy world
Watching from her stardust realm,
wondering how we could ever feel alone
I remember
Lone tree glimmering from afar
Sick, old and crooked with decay,
proudly wearing his golden crown
I remember
Rose and marigold painted dusk
Knowing it would soon fade,
yet happy to stand in awe and bask
I remember
A pine horizon beset by Autumn flames
Vermilion and amber burning on their leaves,
like candles lamenting the lost and unattained
I remember
The late sky trembling and holding back tears
A night of repressed shame and furious release,
when all was obscured and no star shone clear
But then I remember
Sneaking past midnight and awaiting dawn
Dimly lit pavement resounding on every step,
choir of raindrops humming my every thought
And finally I remember
That beauty is all around me even if out of view
And as sure as the sun is to rise and set,
these moments will always remind me of you
