The Wilted Rose

Once velvet, a deep blush below the sun

You drank the morning dew, a vibrant fire

Your brief, bright, perfect dominance is done

Now a withered husk of unfulfilled desire

The crimson drained, a memory of scent

Your petals crumble a dusty heap

The thorn still sharp preserves the argument

That beauty too, must keep a morbid sleep

You lean your head, a fragile brown design

Against the vase where water turned into stone

A masterpiece surrendered to decline

A fragile heart that learnt to DIE ALONE...
