Across the wires

The miles are etched upon the map,

A silent, cold, dividing gap,

But when the day begins to fray,

And chaos threatens to hold sway,

I seek the screen, the ring, the note,

The gentle words you always wrote,

Your care arrives not through the doors,

But across the wires, reaching more

Than any touch might ever do,

You steady me and see me through,

A quiet strength upon the night,

You are my constant, clearest light.

My shelter built on trust and love,

I’m never truly here alone…
