The rain came
To quench the thirst, again,
Of the land;
And us, ‘land down under’ people —
We have just experienced
the hottest seven days,
in a row,
Since 90 years ago.
‘Stralia is parched —
Thirsty in need, deep,
rain hath not vanquished,
Yet to be extinguished.
We thirst for water
And we will forever saunter
Down by the lake,
Where dreams become deep fakes,
We need living water;
For when the days get hotter and hotter,
We will remain still,
Trusting and able to pick up the quill
Again —
