PRESSURE

Live up to his legacy

Or you’ll end in a bind.

They stop saying you’re ahead

And so you slip behind.

Now I think I’m a loser

I think I’m a fraud

I think it was all just some luck all along.

If I don’t live up the dream

Am I even living at all?

It all dwindled out

The praise and the flames and the reins.

And now look at that

I‘m at the back of the pack.

“Good job, but you could’ve done better”

I hate my whole life

And I’m so far behind

And they can’t see that I’m gripping a tether.

(I wish I never-)

(I wish I never-)

I WISH I NEVER STARTED

AND I WISH I NEVER STOPPED

AND I WISH I NEVER LEARNED TO LOVE

OR TOLD THEM IT WAS “JUST US”

And yes I’m younger

And yes I’m fine

(And sometimes I just wanna die)

I just feel like I have to be the best

Or at least as good as he was

When he was my age.
