COFFEE MISADVENTURE

“Wake up, wake up!”

screamed Little Blue.

“I need a bath—right now!”

“What time is it?” I asked.

“And why on earth do you need a bath?

It’s five a.m. sharp.”

“I was jumping in my dream

and fell into your coffee mug—

the one you forgot to drink last night.

Now I’m all smelly and sticky,” it said.

“You smell nice,” said I.

“You are human—you like coffee.

I am a pen. I only like the smell of ink!

Now give me a bath

before you fall asleep again.”

“You are the boss,” said I.

“Only you could make me wake

so early on this winter morning.”
