Decided

I wrote on water

the surface trembled slightly

circles gently spread out

it helped me for a while

making up new worlds

it grew warmer and calmer inside

now I open myself

to what was and what will be

with fear tamed

I just want something written

into resinous wood

something with my own roof

a stable floor under my feet

I open the window

I close the door

this piercing uncertainty

doesn’t disturb me

I’m waiting

for your return

I want something real

that will anchor what matters to us

in this broken reality

with you and me

making sense of what

we write with our hands.
