Flames

Flames spread, eating up the trees. Destroying everything in its path

How rage spreads, consuming you, as you destroy the ones you love

Memory and thought disappear, flames devouring reason

Vision turns red, flames licking the edge of sight

Slowly vanish as fire runs out of things to demolish

As does rage running out of sustenance to keep it going

Fear crashes against your mind as does water against a sandy shore

Realizing what the fire had ravaged and decimated

The ocean of fear bashing and crashing

Cold dread washes over you as you look at the wreckage

The word "sorry" rushing out of your mouth

as you try to come to terms with the irreversible damage

But they won’t be enough, your guilt becoming a physical blow

Words said in anger are never forgotten by the ones who listen

Just how scars caused by flame never leave the surface of the skin.

The wounds made by rage will never leave the heart.
