Indigo

I lie.

I lie.

I lie straight through my teeth

to make them all believe—

believe they must.

I lie.

I lie.

I lie even more

to convince myself

I like indigo.

I lie.

I lie.

I lie without doubt,

trying to connect pieces

that never fit just right.

I lie.

I lie.

I lie forevermore

just to find

it was never about indigo.
