As the Night Sleeps Away

The demon slithers out of the darkness, There were no previous signs. No forewarning. No one knew why it had finally escaped. Everyone knew why it had finally come. Slithering, crawling, creeping the demon approaches The edge of town, the edge of life. The villagers know why it is here A soul is his to claim. Everyone runs and hides. Protect yourself. Grab your children. Crawl to safety. Except one boy is forgotten. Alone, Unaware that others cared; a mind would soon be lost. He used to be surrounded by that light But during this night his guard was down, A Trojan horse creeps inside his head. When the sun rises the village finds him dead.
