Tracing her back playing X’s and O’s,
arm around her body and holding her close.
She turns around; an Eskimo kiss on my nose.
There’s no reason for us to get out of bed.
Her hands ripple like waves through my hair,
we laugh together while we debate truth or dare.
“I don’t want you going out of my sight, going anywhere.”
It’s not just the words but the way it was said.
Holding hands like we’re in high school,
if you keep me baby, I’ll keep my cool.
I swear to stop acting always like a fool,
and I’ll break every self imposed rule,
promise that I’d do it all over again but only for you.
Inhaling your exhales like they’re getting me high,
holding my breath longer to fully absorb your sigh.
I’m fully connected to you and you’re fully connected to I.
There’s no reason for us to get out of bed.
Rolling around on our soft teal sheet,
running our hands on each other and rubbing together our feet,
letting the blanket trap in our body heat;
making us blush and turning our cheeks red.
Catching reflections in her eyes
like a summer day’s beautiful sunrise,
sometimes it’s hazy but still it’s crazy
how after all this time I can get butterflies.
You are the air that I don’t choke,
the one thing about I don’t joke.
The fire that I’ll always stoke,
the heart that I never want broke.
Holding hands like we’re in high school,
the same ones you say are my best tool.
Drowning in your ocean and swimming in your pool,
and I’ll break every self imposed rule,
promise that I’d do it all over again but only for you.
