That's How it Works

i can't let you in until i let me in i’ve tried many times it doesn't work that way you see it's me i'm after and it’s you you’re after when we believe it's out there not in me or you we chase around when the whole time it’s inside we must go all the way down to the bottom into the dark how could we know when in all directions life beckons us every single solitary thing screams (hey) it's over here what you need is in the world no it isn’t it doesn’t work that way nobody knows nobody shows nobody goes where it flows how we must dive deep into where love abides no one can give us the love we long for until we do that’s how it works pe kaplan, 2025
