I waste myself thinking of my youth
I spend too much time looking at my past.
A body I now long for, though wasn’t bulletproof.
A heart that’s now full that was shattered glass.
There’s different kinds of kindness,
you just may not see it at the time.
But if you take a look you’ll find this
written plainly on an light up sign.
Sometimes losing what you had,
will bring you to where and what you need.
There’s guilt but still you should be glad,
that all you had to do was bleed.
There’s different kinds of kindness,
you just may not see it at the time.
You’ve got to keep in mind this;
being happy needn’t be a crime.
We never asked for gifts or favors;
only just good times together
and the odd time, a ride home.
While others looked past my bad behaviors,
it was you who caused me to remember
that I was not and never had been alone.
There’s different kinds of kindness,
you just may not see it at the time.
If your eyes are prone to blindness,
I’ll make sure to lend you mine.
There’s different kinds of kindness,
you may not always see it that way.
If we could put all of it behind us,
we may not feel the same today.
