A Woman

by birdsluvtosurf

My mother was a woman before she was a mother. A child can only see her as a perfect cradle and undying devotion. Held by the ocean as a mothers perfect moon But as I become a woman I am her. So clearly I see that she was everything that she is now before. But a child only sees a cradle Is a woman a shell to be shattered to steal the pearl within? Does being a woman have an end? My mother had a dream beyond me, I wonder if she thought she found the one. Innocent girl, did she think she found a future in him. Tied down and broken by love, does a child steal her pearl and change her name I wish my mother could be wild and free in a world all her own
