The Harbinger

Death is a harbinger Of pain Loss of hope Hope for future Conversations Regret for things Still left to say Pain for the loss Pain for a flame Blown out It announces itself quietly So quietly We may not hear Then in the end It becomes a roar Full of denials Like a raging wind We clench our teeth Against the screams We can not release Death is not kind Or humble It's a monster Devouring voraciously Everything in its path Full of glee We hope our loves Go to a place Where their spirits live on We hope they Can still hear us Yet we hope they Feel no pain Do we let them go easily How do we let them go at all Only time brings us Acceptance Only time brings us A kind of peace Yet for the rest Of our lives Our hearts call Out to them Our souls have Pieces missing As it should be Just as it should be You can't lose a daughter Without losing A piece of your soul You can't lose a mother Without losing Your compass for a while
