In this less than perfect world
I say less than perfect things
Instead of soaring like an eagle
I'm forced to walk with clipp-ed wings

It's not that I'm not truthful
just careful in what I say
In this less than perfect world
it has to be that way

In this less than perfect world
I'm a less than perfect guy
with a less than perfect record
when it comes to loves gone by

But if the world was perfect
I would still be me
so would this less than perfect guy
be someone you'd want to see?
