the ladybugs have invaded your room
theyve crept into the corners,
nested into the ribs of the windowsill
some cultures see them as a sign of
good luck,
good fortune
those arent quite the words youd use
lying outside in a hammock
you look at the daytime sky and see stars
i ask, how is it they reveal themselves to you?
eyes swirling of coffee and honey tell me,
you just have to look for them
driving across oceans of night,
i hear your voice guided by
desperation,
you heart threadbare
love, i say, where are you going?
poetry spills into my ears,
if only back to you
the planet is breathing heavily with chest pains,
lungs full of smoke and static
the people are collapsing in on themselves,
folding like paper
