Suffering

Suffering

Such a complicated word,

for when do you truly suffer?

Is it when you hear your parents fight,

or when you cry yourself to sleep at night?

Is it when you grieve a loved one gone,

or give up everything before it’s begun?

Perhaps suffering cannot be seen with common eyes,

for it hides itself beneath a soft disguise.

Or maybe it’s the weight of being alone,

that makes suffering the only thing that you've ever known.
