Drinking in the desert at night /
Hot wind’s blowing, so I know that change is nigh, like /
Lightning arcing on the horizon /
Or summer rain, sent straight down from heaven

It was something I never felt /
Seeing through dreaming into hell itself / Cosmic static on the TV at the motel /
Naked with a stranger, but he knows your body well

The fluorescents spoke of secrets /
Buzzing like long dead insects /
Morse flickering in silent witness /
To passion, violence, clandestine *** /
Who could fathom what comes next /
Though the road signs sigh of prophesized apocalypse
