Brompton Cemetry

Brompton Grieving planes Sigh over you Give way to Throbbing wings Below i press in Beyond your gates Escaping deeper To find you resting Here Against our cacophony Holding peace In this choking city Gifting grace To a bluefaced Gasping London Walled here is Peace and knowing Damp earth and stone The pause of nettles A peeking robin Peppered earthen air Hung heavy now I sit Perfumed in birdsong Which playing over my skin In dappled light Calms like ether I wait a while Inhale Earthen memories rise A young man before me Now laid to rest Sun kissed and young Above the sea "In sorrow lost" Man's arms folded Across a son's skin bronzed Father's life watering in eyes That don't spill over
