KEEPING IT TOGETHER

I’ll rarely go crazy or even make a silly mistake
Or step on the gas instead of hitting the brake
As I do know exactly what pressure I can take
My skill and aptitude is keeping it all together
It may be some important papers or whatever
I am well respected for my relatively firm grip

Once used, it is permitted to request a break
Only if people are ready, for Goodness’ sake
I am almost universal, and no particular make
Yet indispensable for items that need a tether
Just bare steel and yet often light as a feather
Hey, I am famous and known as a paper clip
