I don’t mind the suffering,
I just hope it means something.

When lovers hearts are torn apart,
I don’t mind.
I just hope it means something.

When the lion’s strength wanes and he is ostracized to starve, I don’t mind.
I just hope it means something.

When young men die in trenches, when soldiers follow orders, I don’t mind.
I just hope it means something.

When parents bury their children, when tragedy is capricious, I don’t mind.
I just hope it means something.

When indifferent gods refuse to intervene,
I don’t mind,
I just hope it means something.

When an old woman weeps over a photo album, I don’t mind.
I just hope it means something.

When the sun inevitably swallows any evidence that we were here, I won’t mind.. but I will hope it meant something
