Darkness surrounds us But up above, thousands of lights shine So far up that we can only wish to see them An explosion of sound encases the mind I cannot think, I do not want to think A conundrum of who to choose The lonely moon Or the thousand stars For the moon is everywhere Is everything It glows at our darkest moment It gives us comfort that we are not alone, That he is always there to show the way Or the stars there are so many and they are so beautiful Yet they hold terrible secrets of destruction and violence Yet we all make wishes on them in our darkest hour Who do we turn to in our time of need Do we turn to the lonely moon or to the thousand stars Who are we to decide We are nothing to them but objects They do not need us, yet we need them How can we survive without them Without them, I do not know who I am I am lost from my own deception Who am I when I am no one When all the lies fade away When I can no longer hide who I am I do not know the answer But I hope to find out soon
