I dressed the night in hope’s soft lace, Lit candles just in case you came. Each second sighed against the glass— A whisper breathing out your name.
The wind rehearsed your gentle knock, The stars leaned close to watch me wait. I poured the tea, two cups, then one— And let the silence meditate.
My shadow danced alone with time, The hours sank into my skin. I swore I saw you in the dark, But it was just the ache within. But I still waited
Through moonlight’s fade and dawn’s soft cry— The chair grew colder by the hour, My arms, outstretched in silent why. The night collapsed into the day, And all my words had burned away. But I still waited

Some loves never arrive—but still, we light the candles, pour the tea, and wait anyway. For love. For ghosts. For what never was. 🕯️🥀 #PoetryBySway #StillIWaited
