Deadwood, a Pine
The lowest places
petalless branches
stems dipped
in the deep blue expanse of the sea
Twisted, twisted into S
branches have bark
that becomes dirt
that becomes sand
Low cliffs
through the cracks
in the rocks
roots deep and burrowed
On the mountain just across the way
white and yellow
in the glorious sunlight,
a friend faces
and says good morning,
"this is the beginning".
