Shadows
They flicker for the light
Dancing for their source
But ever shielded from view

How depressing an existence
A goal unattainable
But persistence is needed
To keep the goal alive

For a light needs shadow
Lest it be drowned by its surroundings
Separated from its partner
But the separation is eternal

For a lit shadow ceases to be
But perhaps that is the most noble of endings
A goal attained
A dancers bow
