I rolled into the city, neon lights so bright,
Chasin’ dreams and promises, under the moonlight.
But the bustling streets echoed with a hollow sound,
Thought I’d found my fortune, but my heart was never found.

Packed my bags for freedom, headed to the sand,
Thought the desert breeze would help me understand.
But it feels like a mirage, just a whisper in the night,
Tangled in my shadows, no love in sight.

Polysemous words, they mask the truth,
Masquerading like friends, but they’re nothing but sleuths.
Hiding the homographical ruse, can’t you see?
Figuratively and literally, they’re landmines to me.

Fake friends in the twilight, shadows that deceive,
Promises like smoke, but it's hard to believe.
Thought I’d find connection ‘neath the desert sun,
But love’s a distant horizon that I’ll never outrun.

Far from paradise, I'm lost in this game,
Hoping for love, but it’s never the same.
Indubitable intentions, but I’m driftin’ on my own,
Dropped like a brick, my heart feels like a stone.

Concrete dreams and desert schemes,
Fading echoes of my shattered dreams.
Far from paradise, I'm lost in this game,
Hoping for love, but it’s never the same.
Indubitable intentions, but I’m driftin’ on my own,
Drop it like a brick, on my heart like a stone.

Far from paradise, I'm lost in this game,
Hoping for love, but it’s never the same.
