Whales have ancient songs
deep in their chests
the vibration of the ocean itself
comes out in baritone voices

A rhythm rocking back and forth
to others like them
and they join in concert,
a serene melody in the deep blue

Then a curtain of salty wet
drops from his wide, wide tail
as one whale calls for an encore

and another gives
a standing ovation
with a loud geyser spume
