Love is Blue
I have always been a dreamer
I saw the sky in his eyes
I saw a big kind heart
That camouflaged his lies
I saw a man of valor
A knight in shining armour
I saw the sails sit steady
But never the elaborate charmer
I saw a gentleman
Not the man who bruised my soul
I saw a saviour
Not the fool who stole my gold
He was kind at first
The way shelter hides the rain
He was a storm erupting
But he needed me to feel the pain
The weight of his burdens
He was too cowardice to bear
If I carried the load
He would have some love to spare
So I took up his cross
And hung on it for his sins
I cheered him while bleeding
And celebrated his all his wins
My spirit grew sullen
My heart wept in shame
How could I love a man
Who wouldn't even call me by name
No name meant no identity
No feeling, no emotion, no shame
I needed to be silenced
So he could escape the blame
The love of my life was dawning
He was me great blue sea
But I didn't know that loving him
Meant killing the best parts of me
Love wears so many masks
All filled with the same intent
I never meant to hurt you
Abuse is how I vent
The painting is so beautiful
So many different shades of blue
But the artwork is ever fading
When the canvass is you!
