Icarus and his waxy wings
can never match the way i soar
when you smile at me
But you melt me just the same
you are my sun
and my love for you burns bright
inside my ribs
and your unmatchable light
brings both life and pain
i can never give up hope or flight
so i will climb upwards
soaring on windy drafts through
heavenly clouds of cotton
closer to you
my sun
Ill watch as you burn my wings
i can do nothing as i fall
into the deep, wine colored sea
paralyzed by your beauty
i will sink to the bottom of the ocean
where the fish shift through sands
in a lazy waltz
and never cry a tear
i would have never known flight at all
if not for you
for who would remember Icarus
if not for his flaming sun
