She kneels by her bedside
Whispering her nightly prayer
So gracious
So beautiful

Then she crawls into bed
In her Hello Kitty pajamas
Awaiting me to tuck her in

I wrap her blankets tightly around her
So that the monsters can't get her
And I kiss her forehead
And whisper "sleep tight my angel"

She smirks and then whines
That her teddy bear is missing
I pick him up off the ground
And tuck him in next to her
It's good to know he will keep her warm

I flick her nightlight on
And shut of the big light
Walking out, leaving her door opened just a crack

My beautiful little girl
Shutting her eyes and drifting off to sleep
So precious
So fragile
So small

I will forever cherish all the moments I hold her in my arms, for I know someday I will not be able to

I turn around and whisper in her door
"Good night be dearly beloved"
Expecting her to be sound asleep

But as I turn around
I hear a soft muffled voice whispering in the dark
Desperate to be heard

"I love you mommy"
