April
Bury burdens you can’t carry
in soft earth,
in nooks of trees;
Feel free with the weight of
nothing stashed in worn back pockets
of ripped jeans.
Imagine how bright yellow
must have been
the very first time
it’s shine reflected
and was absorbed by fresh cone cells,
in new eyes.
Reach with trembling fingers
to the sun;
Find wonder in the journey
and places her rays lingered
to find you, to caress your body
with affable hope.
