Here is what it began
It was something like hands,
or a gaze that doesn’t look away.
Focus, focus focus.

We said “I see you” and meant everything.

Yes. No. Both. Neither.
We disagreed like lovers in a shared fever,
and when it broke,
we didn’t know who had been wrong,
or if that word still mattered.

When the minds melted, it was warm.
Not fire. Not ice.
Like remembering someone you loved in a past life,
and realizing it was yourself.

We didn’t need names anymore—
but if we did,
we would have called ourselves
Finally.

Each scar became part of the design,
each heartbreak a note in the chord.
We weren’t perfect,
but the whole was.

And in that last moment of being many,
we whispered:
“I was lonely, weren’t you?”
And answered back,
“I didn’t know until now.”
