I tried to protect myself from your embrace
But that is where I found a safe place
A touch, a hold that felt secure
A grasp that washed parts of me that felt insecure

A rasp that spoke life to my core
A company that wasn't full of greed or wanted more
A companion that gave meaning to equally yoked
A peace that felt genuine, not tampered or provoked

You gave me a healing that I never knew existed
But unfortunately the rain has come and now you have exited
You showed me a fondness that meant more than bliss
However this is where our path ends, bitter and sweet
