When she opened her eyes,
She breathed deeply, her first breathe of new life
The sun was different;
Light touching her shoulders and weighing her down
So she doesn't drift away somewhere...
Fly again; she could soar so easy

Not this time...
This time, her feet are bare and buried in dirt,
She's planting herself
In sobriety
It hurts like hell to grow roots when your soils rocky
And she's standing on top of ***** boulders

With each day, her roots go deeper, around the giant rocks, through the smallest cracks,
She's sprouting,
She's alive,
And when she breaks through and the sun hits her this time..

The light's not heavy...
She wants to grow,
And as she reaches higher,
Her roots wrap around her boulders...
And they don't stop
Until you wouldn't even know her foundation is rocks
All you know is she's strong,
She's worth it to the sun,
And the soil, and the rain

The thing about flowers...
Is we belong with pain
To be beauty from sickness
Sends off seeds of hope into the wind
For those who aren't strong enough,
To know where to begin

With a little water, sunshine... and time
This sprout,
will be a sunflower
In a field of daisies that don't matter,
Sunflower, follow the sun
