A heavy heart, a bitter soul
Resentment's weight, it takes its toll
A slow-burning fire, that fuels the pain
A toxic brew, that poisons the brain.

It starts with hurt, with anger and with fear
A sense of injustice, that brings us to tears
But as it grows, it morphs into a stain
That spreads its darkness, and refuses to wane.

It seeps into our bones, like winter's chill
A cold and bitter wind, that freezes our will
It makes us question, the love and the trust
And turns our hearts to stone, with a bitter rust.

Resentment's weight, it's crushing and strong
A burden we carry, that lasts all life long
But still we hold on, to this toxic pain
Afraid to let go, and love again.

Yet, in its depths, a spark remains
A spark of hope, that refuses to wane
A chance to heal, to let go of the past
To break the chains, and love that will last.
