I saw him in the muted mist
The swamp woods were full of it
The world outside was fuzzy
Frozen on the ground
From the train window I saw him
I watched his stately prosesion
Sharp white of surrender
Amongst the ***** reeds
That alienesque walk
A great egret
Was something I had never seen
