I used to watch you sleep
and wonder if you were dreaming about me

One hour ago
I deleted your number
from my phone

As I lay here in our
no - my -
bed
I think about your number over and over again
You see, I have it memorized
Along with the rest of your pieces

Like -
the way your eyes hold no signs of life
the way lies slip so easily from your mouth
and even
how you look when you sleep

I understand
now
Dead people don’t dream
and,
dead people don’t pick up the phone.
1 year and 6 months of no contact.
