My sister gave birth today,
A beautiful little girl,
She said she named her after my grandmother
and it took me a moment to talk
For you and my grandmother share the name
And she may have had it first
I may have known her longer,
But for me that name will always mean you
And others may share the same name too
But they are mere holders of it
And it only belongs to you
That name never meant my her
It always meant you.
And now that you and I are no more
This name will haunt me for evermore
