I
Fresh after a shower,
Looking myself in the mirror,
My long hair flowing down,
Reaching my knees,

The same old face,
"I am tired"
After a very long time I,
Take my comb,
Combing my hair down,

I could see how long my hair has grown,
Since the last time I saw,
Since I stopped looking at myself,
In the mirror,
Since I thought myself ugly,
Since I hated looking at myself in the mirror,

I comb my hair,
Enjoying the soft and cold feeling,
Admiring how straight it is,
I try to braid my hair,
In my usual style,
Slicking back and braid,
But I look at myself again,
"I need a change"
I part my hair from the middle,
Take a little of my hair from each sides,
Braiding it into thin braids,
Tying it behind,
And leaving all the other hair loose,
Falling pretty,

I look at myself again,
"Wow! I look pretty"
" I look like a princess"
I smile at myself,
Feeling pretty after a long time,
Not because of a man,
But because of myself,
And that I am glad,
As no man is worthy to make me feel pretty,
The only worthy one being me,

I keep staring for a long time,
Proud,
I tell the girl that I am looking at,
"I am sorry for not doing this earlier,
I am sorry for not making you feel pretty,
If I am not to love you, who will?
The kindest of all should have been me."
I smile again,
Proud.
