Silent surrender

by Lovelornwriter

I’ve fallen, yet in silence I remain, An aching whisper caught in a refrain. Your gaze is a fleeting echo, a distant sound, But I dare not chase it, lest I drown. Your indifference, like a fog, drapes the air, And I, a specter, move through it, unaware. No signal from you, no tremor or sign, Yet my pulse beats fast, but I hold it in line. What if I speak, and my words unravel, A confession that leads to a cold gravel? The thought of it burns with a quiet disdain, To fall into nothing, to fade in the rain. The paradox stirs—do I risk or withdraw? To step from the shadows, or remain in awe? For to love without knowledge, without any clue, Is to build a cathedral on nothing but blue. But what if the truth is an unbearable weight, And I shatter the silence, but meet only fate? A confession that crumbles, a heart left behind, A desire too reckless, too bitter, too blind. So I linger in this space, where words remain mute, Where longing exists, but truth remains mute. A silent surrender, where hope holds no grace And I am the prisoner, trapped in this place. -lovelorn-
